Solitaire Commences Drill Program at Pickle LakeWednesday, March 31, 2004
March 31, 2004: Solitaire Minerals Corp. (the Company) is pleased to announce the drill program on the Company's Golden Pickle property at Pickle Lake, Ontario will be commencing within the next 72 hours. The Golden Pickle Claims consist of 1,960 acres, located between the past-producing Pickle Crow Mine and the Central Patricia Mine. According to figures publishes by the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines the two mines historically produced over 600,000 ounces of gold for the Central Patricia Mine, at an average grade of 0.35 opt, and over 1.4 million ounces of gold produced at the Pickle Crow Mine, at an average grade of 0.475 opt.
The Company has contracted Aggressive Diamond Drilling Ltd. for a planned six hole initial drill program on the 100% optioned Golden Pickle property. This initial drilling program will be targeting several areas of the property. One of the prime target areas for the Company is the area where mineralization from the past producing Central Patricia Gold Mines is interpreted as trending onto the Golden Pickle property. Additional target areas include a portion of the Patricia Fault, an iron formation on the northwest portion of the property and a folded porphyry outcrop, both of which have historic gold showings.
On completion of this first stage drill program, the Company will be evaluating the results in order to adequately plan the next phase of exploration. All drilling activities will be performed under the supervision of Garry Clark, P.Geo, who is the qualified person on this project.
Baird Update: In addition, the Company is pleased to report the Gravity Survey being conducted by Dr. Allan Spector of Spector and Associates, on the Company's Baird property is progressing according to plan, and results are anticipated within two weeks.
Chikuni Update: The Company is also in the final planning stages for the next phase of exploration on the Company's Chikuni property, where recently conducted airborne magnetic survey and ground gravity survey has defined a wnw-trending gravity anomaly that parallels the regional gravity anomaly that demarks the major deformation/alteration zone hosting the Goldcorp Red Lake Mine and the Placer Dome Campbell Mine. This potential parallel deformation zone is crosscut by northeast trending faults as defined in the recent magnetic survey.
The interpreted deformation zone consists of high-density mafic-intrusives, and mafic volcanics, bounded by granodiorites to the north, and granodiorites and mafic volcanics to the south. (maps are available at www.solitaireminerals.com/chikuni/maps).
