Solitaire commences Gravity Survey on Baird, prepares to drill at Pickle Lake

March 23, 2004: Solitaire Minerals Corp. (the Company) is pleased to announce the commencement of additional work on the Company's Baird Property.

Following up on the recent success attained through a ground-based Gravity Survey in identifying geophysical faults and structure on the Company's Chikuni Property, a complete Gravity Survey is being commenced on the Baird Property starting March 23, 2004. The work program will be performed by Dr. Allan Spector, of Allan Spector & Associates Ltd, of Toronto, Ontario, with results expected in two to three weeks.

At the same time, the Company is currently negotiating terms with a drilling contractor to commence drilling activity on the Company's Golden Pickle property located at Pickle Lake, Ontario. The Golden Pickle property is comprised of 1,960 acres located between the past producing Central Patricia Mine (over 600,000 oz of Gold produced) and the Pickle Crow Mine (over 1,400,000 oz of Gold produced). It is anticipated that terms of the contract will be finalized and drilling will commence within the next two weeks. Upon commencement of drilling, the Company will provide a further update.
