Solitaire announces commencement of Aero-Mag and Ground-Gravity Survey on Chikuni Property, Red Lake

February 6, 2004: Solitaire Minerals Corp. (the Company) is pleased to announce the immediate commencement of a work program on the 100% owned Chikuni River Property located in Red Lake, Ontario.

The work program, to be carried out by TERRAQUEST LTD. of Toronto, Ontario, will entail an airborne geophysical survey with qualitative interpretation by Mr. Roger Watson, P.Eng, the Consulting Geophysicist.

Additionally, a ground-based gravity survey will be performed on the claims by Al Spector, Ph.D., of Allan Spector & Associates Ltd, of Toronto, Ontario.

It is anticipated that the airborne and ground work programs will be completed with complete results provided to the company within the next three weeks. At that time, the Company anticipates announcing further exploratory work on the Chikuni River Property.

The Chukuni River Claims refer to claim units totaling 2000 acres in Byshe Township in the prolific Red Lake Mining District. Two of the claims are contiguous with Goldcorp's (TSX:G, NYSE:GG) Red Lake Mine claim group. Goldcorp has announced and commenced construction of a new shaft (Shaft #3) to a depth of 7150 feet with a total hoisting capacity of 4000 tons per day, to be located south of their existing shafts, and approximately 2,000 meters north of the Chikuni Property.
