News Release 2003 Sep 12 Solitaire Minerals Update | Solitaire Minerals UpdateFriday, September 12, 2003 September 10, 2003 - Solitaire Minerals Corp. (TSX.V - SLT) is making this news release to clarify its position with respect to the Headway Property located in Red Lake Ontario which is under option from King's Bay Gold Corporation and also to provide an update on activity near its other properties.
Headway Property: Solitaire has entered into an agreement to earn up to a 50% interest in this property with Kings Bay Gold Corporation. The Company advanced $100,000 to King's Bay for exploration on the property. Solitaire requested, yet was unable to obtain from King's Bay, any material accounting for these funds. Further King's Bay had agreed to hold the property payments in abeyance during the period when Horizon Gold Corporation was assessing the property. When Horizon Gold Corporation indicated that it would not be able to complete its financing, King's Bay unilaterally and without warning, provided notice of termination. Solitaire, immediately upon receipt of notice from King's Bay, on May 5, 2003 sent letters through its counsel to counsel for King's Bay to confirm its position and has continued to make King's Bay aware of its position. Solitaire still maintains that it is entitled to earn into a 50% interest in the Headway Property.
Prior exploration on the Headway Property intersected high-grade gold values, including 2.74 oz/ton gold over 2.0 ft and 0.61 oz/ton gold over 3.08 ft in drill core (H-13), surface chip samples of up to 1.35 oz/ton over 6.6 ft and several surface grab samples exceeding 1oz/ton. The property contains two east-west trending, gold bearing structural zones; the 4,000 ft x 1,000 ft Headway Shear Zone and the 2,300 ft x50 ft Main Zone. (Watkins, 1999). Recent work on the property has uncovered a two to five metre wide quartz porphyry dyke trending at 100 to 120 degrees and dipping near vertical. The dyke is host to numerous ladder-like quartz veins that are mineralized with pyrite, pyrrhotite, minor arsenopyrite, tourmaline and rare visible gold. Drilling into this structure produced results as follows: 18 metre (59 ft) section assayed 1.1 g/t Au, with a high of 4.8 g/t Au over 1.0 metre. According to Tony Pryslak, M.Sc., P.Geo, Project Supervisor "Further drilling is recommended to further test the gold potential of the porphyry zone."
Chukuni River Property: The Chukuni River claims comprise 1500 acres immediately south, and bordering upon the Goldcorp Inc. Red Lake mine property.
Baird Property: The Baird claims comprise approximately 1250 acres in the Baird Township, 8 kilometers southwest of the town of Red Lake. The property adjoins the Starratt-Olsen and Madsen mine properties of Claude Resources / Placer Dome. Recent drill results announced by the Claude Resources / Placer Dome property indicate promising results from an area approximately 150 meters north of the Solitaire Baird property boundary. Information provided in the news release indicate that the structure being drilled trends in a northeast to southwest direction. Results include PDM03-150, 8.66m grading 1.24 gpt, PDM03-151, 5.15 meters grading 1.63 gpt, and PDM03-154, which had a 1.22 meter interval of 8.55 gpt. (Complete results are available at www.clauderesources.com) In addition, Solitaire is aware that extensive staking has recently occurred immediately south of Solitaire's Baird property.
Golden Pickle Property: The Golden Pickle claims comprise 1960 acres in Connell Township in the Patricia Mining District of Ontario. The property lies between the Pickle Crow and Central Patricia Mines, east of the town of Pickle Lake.
