Drilling program commences on Headway propertyFriday, June 13, 2003 Solitaire Minerals Update
Following up on extensive surface and MAG survey work which identified several prominent and historically untested geophysical structures, King's Bay Gold (the operator) has commenced a minimum 1,000-metre drill program on the Headway property, Red Lake, Ontario.
The claim group is located in Balmer and Dome townships approximately 1,200 metres southwest of the high-grade zone and directly adjacent to the Red Lake mine of Goldcorp Inc. The drill program, which is to commence the week of June 16th, is designed to test the quartz-feldspar-porphyry dikes (QFP) identified on surface. This area contains high-grade gold occurrences, including 2.74 oz/ton gold over 2.0 ft and 0.61 oz/ton gold over 3.08 ft in drill core (H-13), surface chip samples of up to 1.35 oz/ton gold over 6.6 ft, 14.16 oz/ton over 1.0 ft and several surface grab samples exceeding 1 oz/ton gold. Gold is developed within quartz-carbonate +/- tourmaline +/- arsenopyrite veins associated with these quartz-feldspar porphyry dykes that intrude altered and sheared mafic volcanics and have been subject to only limited diamond drilling.
Richard Rivet, president and chief executive officer of King's Bay Gold, said: "We are looking forward to carrying out what appears to be the first systematic exploration of the potential of known mineralization in this phase I drilling program. If results are encouraging, we anticipate additional diamond drilling will be undertaken on this project.”
